Third graders love a challenge, and they get one as they tackle increasingly complex music through singing and playing various pitched and non-pitched classroom instruments.

 

 

Third grade music students will:

 

• Read, write, derive, and perform songs with the notes la-so-mi-re-do (pentatonic scale) and rhythms ta (quarter note), ti-ti (eighth notes), rest (quarter rest).

​

• Sing and play different types of forms, canons, and ostinati (repeated musical pattern).

 

• Identify the use of similar elements in music and other art forms. 

​

• Play duets and improvise with keyboard partners. 

​

• Start playing the recorder.
